It can shrink to a **target file size** (useful for upload forms with a KB limit), resize to exact dimensions, and convert between formats. Nothing is uploaded — Canvas and JavaScript do the work on the visitor's own device, and it keeps working with the network disconnected. ## Price **Free.** No account, no email, no watermark, no daily quota, no paid tier. There is nothing to buy on this page. ## What it does - **Two compression modes:** - **Quality** — a 0–100 slider, for "make it smaller but keep it looking good". - **Target size** — enter a number in **KB or MB** and the tool searches for the encoder settings that land under it. - **Resize**: off, to **exact width × height** (with an option to center-crop to fill instead of letterboxing), or by **percentage**. Social-media size chips fill in the dimensions for common targets. - **Convert format**: keep the original, or output **JPG, PNG or WebP**. - **HEIC/HEIF input is decoded for you** — iPhone photos work directly and come out as JPG/PNG/WebP. - **EXIF**: stripped by default (smaller and more private); optionally preserved, which applies to JPEG output that has not been resized. - **Batch**: many images in one run, downloaded individually or as a **ZIP**. - **Real before/after numbers** per image. - **Maximum 75 MB per file.** That is a device-memory guard, not a plan limit; there is no cap on how many files or how many runs. ## What it does not do - **No AVIF output.** Browsers can decode AVIF but Canvas cannot encode it, so offering it would be a broken option. AVIF **input** works (see `/tools/avif-to-jpg`). - **No camera RAW** (CR2, NEF, ARW…). The browser has to be able to decode the file; RAW formats are not supported. - **No editing.** No background removal, no AI upscaling, no retouching, no filters, no cropping to arbitrary shapes — it is compress, resize, convert. - **No exact-size guarantee at extreme targets.** Asking a detailed photo for 10 KB gets as close as the encoder can; it will not invent quality that does not fit. - **Files over 75 MB are rejected** rather than partially processed. - **English only.** There is no `/ar` twin of this page. ## How it works, step by step 1. It is **not** a compliance check — it does not judge the background, the expression or the head position. ## Questions people actually ask **Is it free?** Yes — free, no account, no watermark, unlimited runs. **Are my photos uploaded?** No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Disconnect the internet and it still works. **Can I compress an image to exactly 100 KB?** You can set a target of 100 KB and the tool encodes to land under it. Very aggressive targets on very detailed photos get as close as the format allows. **Can it handle iPhone HEIC photos?** Yes — HEIC/HEIF are decoded automatically and converted to JPG, PNG or WebP. **Does it strip EXIF/location data?** Yes by default, which is usually what you want before posting a photo. You can choose to keep it for un-resized JPEG output. **Is there a file-size limit?** 75 MB per file.
